A functional panel is wider than a standard one on purpose — hormones, full thyroid, insulin and metabolic markers, inflammation, and nutrient status, drawn in our own office. The width matters less than the reading, though: these systems pull on each other constantly, so a thyroid result only means something next to your insulin, your cortisol, and your inflammatory markers. That is the part a nine-minute visit cannot do.

What is functional medicine?
It is an approach rather than a specialty: test widely, read the results as one connected system, and treat the underlying cause instead of managing symptoms one at a time. In practice that means a much deeper panel than a standard physical, a full hour to go through it, and a plan that addresses why you feel the way you do.
How is this different from seeing my primary care doctor?
Primary care is built to catch and manage disease, and it does that well — this is not a replacement for it. The difference is depth and time: over sixty markers instead of a basic panel, a full hour instead of nine minutes, and a reference range read against how you actually feel rather than against the outer edge of normal. Many of our patients keep their primary care physician and come here for this.
Is this holistic or naturopathic medicine?
It overlaps with both in philosophy — whole-person, root-cause, and prevention-minded — but this is medical care delivered by a licensed nurse practitioner in partnership with a board-certified physician. Teresa prescribes and orders labs, and plans are built on your bloodwork rather than on supplements alone.
What conditions do you address this way?
Most people arrive with hormone, thyroid, or metabolic symptoms — fatigue, weight that will not move, brain fog, poor sleep, low libido, or autoimmune symptoms nobody has explained. Because the panel is wide, the plan often addresses several of those at once, since they usually share a cause.
Do you take insurance?
No — this is a cash-pay practice, and that is what makes the model possible. Insurance will not pay for a sixty-marker panel or a full hour of provider time. Everything is priced openly: the Total Health Assessment is $299 and credits in full toward whichever program you and Teresa decide on.
