Teresa Mealy, FNP
I am a certified Family Nurse Practitioner based in St. Petersburg, Florida. Although I initially thought I would pursue a finance major, life had other plans. After graduating high school in 1989, I began working as a receptionist at a neurology office in Clearwater, Florida. Soon after, I transitioned into a “medical assistant” role, sparking my interest in a nursing career.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia, and started my nursing career at St. Joseph’s Hospital. My first assignment as an RN was in a cardiac step-down unit, where I cared for post-angioplasty, cardiac stents, pacemakers, and post-coronary bypass surgery patients. In 1999, my husband and I returned to our home state of Florida, and I continued working on the cardiac step-down unit at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater.
In 2004, I graduated with my Master’s Degree in nursing from the University of South Florida and began working as a Nurse Practitioner at the original neurology office, specializing in migraine management. After the birth of my twin boys, I joined the Minute Clinic, located in select CVS stores.
Our family moved to Missouri in 2012, where I began experiencing my own health issues. I was gaining weight, felt irritable, wasn’t enjoying life, and generally felt like I was going crazy. Traditionally trained, I wasn’t comfortable prescribing many medications and often looked into natural remedies. However, I didn’t realize the extent of research supporting natural treatment options until I found a doctor who helped me with hormone replacement. Within three months, I felt better than I had in my 20s. This experience led me to delve into bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT).
In 2015, I received advanced certification in BHRT through World Link Medical and am currently taking courses at the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). This training has solidified my belief that we need to move away from “band-aid” medications and allow our bodies to heal themselves with natural preparations.
I opened my own practice in 2016 in St. Petersburg, Florida, specializing in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, aiming to improve lives one patient at a time. My husband, Mark, and I have been married since 1995 and have amazing twin boys, born in 2007. We are a close-knit family and enjoy homeschooling our boys in the vibrant St. Petersburg community.
